Editor’s Note: The Shelby Star newspaper is no longer local to Shelby and is also no longer a newsprint Newspaper. The Shelby Star, however, still covers-up for the various Cleveland County governmental entities like the City of Shelby and the CC Commissioners as well as the CCS School Board, CCC, etc. As well as certain other CC fiascos and, the seven-year-old Federal Lawsuit against the CC Commissioners and also the brand-new Federal Lawsuit against The CCS Superintendent and School Board. The entity puts out a “Press Release” and the Shelby Star publishes the phony Press Release under the disguise of a legitimate news article.
This particular “Foolishness of the Day” from the Commissioners and the Shelby Star is in regard to the shenanigans related to the 2025 CC Property Tax Bill process as related to Robert A’s well-founded claim that Cleveland County is broke. The Shelby Star published this article on March 3, 2025 titled “Check out these nine things to know about Cleveland County Property evaluations.”
The very first statement in this article, under Key Points is the statement that
- “Cleveland County, North Carolina, is undergoing a ‘regularly scheduled’ property revaluation process for 2025.”
THE STATEMENT ABOVE IS A BALD-FACED LIE A TOTAL DECEPTION!!!
The simple truth of this matter is that The North Carolina Finance and Local Government Offices of the NC Department of the Treasurer sent an official letter to the Cleveland County Commissioners (around 2 years ago) that. “The Department of the Treasury had reviewed certain reports regarding Cleveland County’s Financial Position as related to Cleveland County’s appraised property values vs. “Market” property values and Cleveland County’s “ratios” had exceeded generally accepted deviations and ORDERED Cleveland County to perform a complete property reappraisal by 2025.

As for the letter from the NC Department of the Treasurer to the Cleveland County Commissioners, Ordering Cleveland County to perform a total Property Tax related “Revaluation” in 2025, please call your “favorite Cleveland County Commissioner and present to him or her a Public Records Request for the Letter from the NC Department of the Treasurer to Cleveland County ordering this 2025 Property Revaluation for tax purposes. And let Robert A know what they tell you. Which will probably be another bald-faced lie. Hey, it is high time more Citizens and Taxpayers step up their communications with the CC Commissioners and CCS School Board.
But, as of right now, Robert A is right in the middle of setting the record straight about the truths of the matter regarding how crooked and corrupt these and other sets of Commissioners have been over the past several (30+) years regarding Property Taxes and foolish and corrupt County Spending. Mixed in with the many CCS School Board shenanigans.
Robert A is searching for one of his early articles (perhaps 30 years ago) regarding Commissioner’s Criminal Corruption and how the crimes were never prosecuted. All the way up to this very minute. Note that Commissioner Kevin Gordon, Johnny Hutchins and others did not invent corruption on the CC Board of Commissioners. But they seem (to Robert A) to have been quick studies.
