$500 Reward!!!
Folks, Robert A started in the First Grade at Fallston School and Graduated Burns at Fallston in 1965. In 1965 Education in the United States was Number 1 in the WORLD. North Carolina was NOT First in the USA and Fallston School was not Number 1 in North Carolina OR Cleveland County for that matter. But we all received “a sound basic education” way before that phrase became popular. And, was declared a NC CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, (Leandro v North Carolina 1997).

Note: In 1997, the Supreme Court of North Carolina’s landmark decision in Leandro v. State of North Carolina affirmed every child’s state constitutional right to a sound basic education, beginning in early childhood.
Now, the term “sound basic education” is “Measured” by a “testing method” called; “PROFICIENCY!!!”. Today, December 18. 2024 Proficiency in learning is measured by testing and standards that have been set by Educational so-called “experts” at the NC Department of Public Instruction such that the overall average educational performance of a GROUP of students are evaluated by the percentage of students that are AT or ABOVE the level of proficiency that is set by these educational experts.
That measurement of Proficiency, if properly determined and reported, is good enough for Robert A. Every child is supposed to be TAUGHT in NC Schools to become proficient in every important subject, such as Reading, Writing and Math (the old Three R’s: (R’eading, R’iting and R’ithmetic.)
Folks, Proficiency, as used in every measure of School Performance, does not mean that to be Proficient, requires every child to be 100% in every test on every subject. We all know and acknowledge that it is impossible for every child to be another Einstein. That is impossible. So, Proficiency for a group of children has to take into account that some children will be smarter than others. That some children will be amongst the smarter in a CLASS OR SCHOOL while some children will be less smart. So, again, these so-called educational “Experts” at The NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI) have set an artificial level of Proficiency that could be expected and the critical measure of a school’s proficiency would be the measure of the percentage of children that have reached that arbitrary number called Proficiency. So, the term Percentage of Proficiency has become the “tell-tale” measure of a School’s Performance. Here again the NC DPI has set this standard of performance for every school in North Carolina. AND, have set grade levels that schools either pass or fail.
Presently, Nine Schools in the Cleveland County Schools District have received FAILING SCORES. And, four more Cleveland County Schools are only ONE point away from a Failing Score. This represents almost half of Cleveland County Schools are at and below FAILING levels.
Note that just a few years ago, CCS had ZERO Failing Schools!!!

NOW Folks, Let’s define Excellence, as it will be used to determine the winner of this $500 Reward!
Gloria Sherman was one of the newly sworn-in CCS School Board Members. Gloria Sherman and Aaron Bridges both voted with incumbents Walter Scott Spurling, Ron Humphries and Joel Shores to make Joel Shores CHAIRMAN of the CCS School Board. The Shelby Star has applauded this decision.
However, Newly sworn in School Board members David Fisher and Kenneth A. Ledford, along with Danny Blanton and Ronnie Grigg brought up the FACT that CCS Failing Schools as something that need the School Board’s immediate attention, while Sherman, Bridges, Spurling, Humphries, Shores and the Shelby Star all refused to acknowledge failing CCS Schools are a problem.
Later, during the CCS School Board’s December 9, 2024 Official meeting Gloria Sherman stated that the minority faction on the School Board (Fisher, Ledford, Blanton and Grigg) would have to drop their personal agendas to become a part of the School Board Team who are promoting the CCS Cultivation of Excellence. Note that Gloria Sherman is a long-time CCS high level Employee who was herself greatly involved in so many Failing CCS Schools.
So, somebody is lying. Gloria Sherman and her crowd or David Fisher, Kenneth Ledford, Danny Blanton and Ronnie Grigg.
So, Folks, where is the “Excellence” at Cleveland County Schools???” Where is there any semblance of Excellence at CCS Schools.
Robert A is personally offering a $500 Reward for any action of the 2024 CCS School Board under Joel Shores, Aaron Bridges, Gloria Sherman, Ron Humphries and Walter Scott Spurling that is shown by the US News and World Reports Link previously listed PROVES to Robert A that any substantial Excellence at all exists at CCS.
