I have lost count of the columns I have written taking up for the Democrat Party of my father and grandfather. Growing up as a child of the South, a reputation of being a Good Democrat was an indication of power, standing and respect in the community. My father, T. H. Moore, was a good Democrat. I regret that he died so many years ago.
I was the baby of my family and my older brothers and sisters helped raise me. But I was taught to respect my father and my mother. That was the way it was when I was growing up. Honor thy father and thy mother. That’s what the Bible said and that’s what my father believed. Me too. When a good Democrat gave my father his word, my father took the man’s word just as seriously as the man giving it did. Like it was from the Scriptures. I have nothing but fond memories about my father and HIS Democrat Party.
My father would take up for the Democrat Party just like he would take up for his family. It was the right thing for a man to do and my father was a man. Democrats did the right things in the eyes of God and America. And my father. I have taken up for the Democrat Party for all these years in keeping with what my father would have done. Or so I thought. My father was taking up for a political party that was in the “right”. But that was then and now is now. Can I say the same thing as my father?
Searching my soul, I have to say I am only saying half the same thing as my father. I am saying I am a Democrat. When I get to the part about the Democrat Party always being in the “right,” I realize that part is a lie.
Where should I start? In alphabetical order: Abortion, banning prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, gay marriage, gun control, tax those that work to give to those that don’t work, other welfare programs that discourage family values. The list goes on. My father and the Democrat Party of his day never accepted those things. Why should the Democrat Party and I accept those things now? And what to do about it.
Unfortunately, people like myself have been asleep at the wheel. We have allowed the Democrat Party to be hijacked by what is now called a “Shadow Party” within the Democrat Party. The Shadow Party with the platform of all things wrong when looked at from the prospective of the Holy Bible. AS if eaten away by a cancer, all that is left of the Democrat Party is the name. The values of the Bible are all gone.
Now, what do I do? First, I must release myself from the thinking of the past. I have fond memories of my father and I believe he is spending his eternal life with Jesus in Heaven. But those fond memories no longer apply to the Democrat Party. Now I realize I must vote for the person with Christian, conservative, family-oriented values. Now I must vote for the political party that endorses those values. Now I realize the only way to take back the Democrat Party from the Shadow Party is to vote for Republican candidates.
My earthly father would be proud of me for taking up the battle for what is right. My Father in Heaven is definitely proud of me.
Editor’s Note: This article was submitted and published way back in 2008. Back when the Democrat Party controlled the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners as well as the CC School Board. Now, in 2024, things have completely and totally turned around in CC. Now the “Fake” Republican Party, via the Rogue Republicans, are totally in control of the Boards of Commissioners and the CCS School Board as well. And very few would argue that CCS is no worse now than at any time the Democrats of the past were in control of Cleveland County.
But NOW the Republicans are wasting money at record levels in areas that are poorly planned and poorly prioritized. CCS student scores are at all-time lows. High School Curricula that prepares all students for job related skills have been deleted in favor of CRT indoctrination and gender dysphoria. Which has resulted in many major and legitimate businesses closing their doors or moving elsewhere. Business and major employers such as (KEMET, Bayliner Boats, Indian Motorcycles, Copeland, Fiber, Cotton Gins, Cotton Farming, Cotton Mills of all kinds; as well as the Industrial Supply Businesses that supported them are now all gone from Cleveland County. Causing thousands of job losses. Now, the Commissioners have borrowed $6 Million (and paying the interest and probably the principal too) for a new industrial Shell Building that they can’t even give away. All because of a failed Public Education System and a set of Commissioners who wrongly believe an Indian Casino and a new, bigger and more costly Jail are “ASSETS” to the community instead of a catalyst for crime, corruption and overall social disfunction that they really are. And then allow the Public Schools to go to waste with leaky roofs and old age. And, ignoring the ever-lowering school and student test scores and have recently laid-off many teachers in the process. And the CC citizens taxpayers and especially voters have not and continue to refuse to hold the CC Commissioners and the CCS School Board members responsible at the ballot box for their sorry records of bad decisions, corruption and cover-ups.
As Susanna stated in her op-ed way back in 2008, “We the People” must forget about party affiliation above everything else and dig into the facts and qualification related to the person who is running for office in 2024. Democrat or Republican. If elected officials lie to the people or refuse to be transparent with their decisions and reasoning for ALL those bad decisions. Those guilty officials must be removed from office at the ballot box on election day 2024.

PS: Also, folks, remember that the 2024 Elections are NOT OVER YET!!! Not until the December 5, 2024 General Elections are complete and the ballots properly and accurately counted. IF YOU STAY HOME like you did in the 2024 Primary Elections, YOU just made a foolish Decision. The evidence is all over Cleveland County that the County is broke and you, your children and grandchildren will be left paying the bills of this major debt these present Commissioners; Kevin Gordon, Ronnie Whetstine Johnny Hutchins, Deb Hardin and Doug Bridges have left or will leave YOU with. What you will hear from Robert A after that is “I told you so!!!”
Citizens, if you want to bring your county government’s spending, waste, corruption and just plain old incompetence under control any time soon; YOU have only this one option. Forget Political Party Affiliation in the 2024 November Elections and vote the in-crowds OUT!!!

These candidates on the November 5, 2024 offer the only hope for Cleveland County to be soon led by candidates for change. From worst to better and then the best. From lies and corruption to truth and honesty.
