A Bomb Threat early this morning (September 14, 2024) regarding Kings Mountain Intermediate School, discovered on Social Media, caused CCS to evacuate KMIS completely and call law enforcement. The school was swept for bombs and perhaps other suspicious hazardous materials and none were found. After the all-clear was given, students, teachers, and staff returned to their various classrooms and offices and classes were resumed. Law Enforcement is attempting to track down where the bomb threat came from and determine who will be prosecuted.
All this happening just after the CCS School Board approved a policy limiting students’ access to their own cell phones seems to be a coincidence that nobody has spoken about. This policy was vigorously discussed at the September 11, 2023, CCSA School Board meeting with much division among School Board members. The School Board voted 5-4 to take the policy back to the Policy Committee.
The point of contention was the new policy contained clauses that required students to take an online class to be able to use their cell phones only at lunchtime. But, also only at the discretion of the School’s Principal.
The Burns and Kings Mountain High School Principals decided to NOT allow cell phone use during lunch, while the Crest and Shelby High Schools’ Principals decided to allow cell phone use during lunch. Most citizens believe that the Burns and Kings Mountain High Schools’ Principals refused to allow students to use their cell phones because of the Senior Prank vandalism at BHS and the four-day rash of fights at KMHS that caused up to 600 KMHS students to be held out of school by their concerned parents, which were all captured on cell phone cameras and posted on social media. Much to the chagrin of CCS, who were, and still are covering up those incidents. While Shelby HS and Crest HS had no such serious disruptions.
Also, many students at BHS and KMHS are refusing to take that cell phone class because they will still not have the use of their cell phones whether or not they take the cell phone class.
Much of the heated division at the CCS School Board meeting on 9/11 dealt with who has control of CCS School Board Policy, the elected school board, or the unelected Principals. Again, most of the public believes the whole cell phone exclusion is because the CCS administration wants to cover up their problems from public knowledge. They want nobody to know of their problems and believe that everything is going well. Even when there are major and glaring problems that need fixing, not covering up.
With all this in mind, Robert A recommend law enforcement focus their Bomb Threat investigation on those thousands of CCS High School disgruntled students that attend Burns and KM High Schools. Robert A also recommends that CCS fess up to their real reason for implementing such a divisive and onerous policy (to high school students anyway) and rescind that policy.
Actually, kids with cell phones documenting problems at CCS should be considered a public service for improving CCS educational efforts as well as improving the CC public’s opinion that CCS is up to the serious task of properly educating our children. A task that CCS has heretofore failed to achieve.
Also note that the 6-3 majority, that CCS School Board Chairman Robert Queen has so far maintained, was surprisingly broken with this 5-4 vote to take the cell phone policy back to the Policy Committee for discussion. School Board Chairman Robert Queen voted against this discussion and found himself on the losing side of a losing argument. Censorship and Censure-ship, Robert Queen’s trademark tactic appears to be falling apart.
And Robert Queen himself appears to be falling apart too. Especially when Robert A asked Robert Queen to explain his statement that school board members lose their Constitutional rights when they serve on the CCS School Board. Soon Robert Queen was threatening Robert A with expulsion, even though the meeting had already stopped for a Closed Session. And the Shelby Police Department who were providing security, had already smartly refused to expel “Lady Liberty” from a previous school board meeting because she, like Robert A, had broken no laws. Then Robert Queen appeared to want to vault over the dais to assault Robert A, then thought against that childish and stupid tactic and walked away to the Closed Session meeting. Red-faced and with a blood pressure that must have exceeded 200 over 150.
In conclusion, there are thousands of CCS High School students with motives to disrupt Robert Queen and his crumbling majority. CCS administration too, with a bomb threat hoax. Such a hoax has happened before that originated from a disgruntled CCS student.
Now, for one last-minute thought. How much public expense is CCS expending ($$$) to monitor social media 24-7-365 for such as this bomb threat hoax??? Apparently quite a lot. Wouldn’t those expenditure$ be much better spent on properly educating CCS students than wasting those resources looking for phony bomb threats???
Stay tuned folks. Hopefully, law enforcement will soon have the culprit in this bomb threat hoax matter!! And NOT a scapegoat!!
