School Board Member Dr. Danny Blanton is the most senior (9 years) and experienced school board member. Dr. Blanton finished first in the 2022 Republican School Board Primary as well as in the 2022 School Board General Elections held November 8, 2022. Many contend that this constitutes a mandate by the people of Cleveland County that Dr. Danny Blanton should be selected as Chairman of the School Board for the upcoming year.
It has been reported that Dr. Blanton, yesterday (Wednesday), during a visit or helping his son on a construction project, stepped on an unnailed board spanning some floor joists, throwing Dr. Blanton off balance. Dr. Blanton fell through the floor joists to the ground below, striking his hip on a concrete block that happened to be underneath. Breaking the concrete block as well as Dr. Blanton’s hip.
Dr. Blanton was rushed to the hospital yesterday, but due to some sort of delay did not immediately go into surgery by late afternoon yesterday. Right now, Robert A is not certain whether Dr. Blanton received emergency surgery late yesterday evening or this very morning.
At the last report, Dr. Blanton is in good spirits and is expected to remain hospitalized for at least four days. Followed by some time off his feet and not crawling around on construction projects. Mrs. Blanton and family will likely see to that.
Although Robert A is not presently sure what are the visitation arrangements for Dr. Danny Blanton, Robert A suspects get-well cards and possible get-well soon phone calls in a few days would be well received.
