Folks, Robert A has published many, many articles over the years recommending things that had a very positive potential impact on Cleveland County. Mr. Willie Green’s Sports Complex project, in particular, was one of them. Mr. Green’s project in Shelby would have produced much more economic development in Shelby and Cleveland County than the American Legion world Series ever would. The arithmetic is simple. Mr. Green would have provided 48 week-ends of Travel-Ball Tournaments compared with the ALWS few days. Plus, almost everybody everywhere realizes that youth activities spent under the discipline necessary to play team sports is absolutely better than youth gangs, violence, murders, drugs and all kinds of other crimes.

But, Nooo!!  The City of Shelby and the Cleveland County Commissioners (especially under the leadership of Chairman Kevin Gordon) are too preoccupied with their own “Hustles” to see the hand-writing on the wall. That they are supposed to work for the betterment of ALL of Cleveland County instead of their own personal “stuff.” (More about that later in other articles. Like Cleveland County is heading for the US Supreme Court over cheating Cleveland County EMS Workers out of their due wages. ALL y’all Cleveland County taxpayers will be thrilled to hear about this stuff the Commissioners have been keeping secret from the public.

This article, for right now, will be simple. Don’t believe a word Robert A has ever written about Mr. Willie Green and his Sports Complex Project that was planned for Shelby, NC. Erase everything from your mind about that. NOW, you can read the “truth,” straight from the horse’s mouth. A “News” source straight from Athens, Georgia. Pictures and all. Mr. Willie Green has his own Sports Complex, purchased with his OWN money, situated in Athens, Georgia. Instead of Shelby, NC. And Athens, Georgia is smart enough to appreciate it!!

Note that Robert A will continue monitoring Mr. Green’s progress with his Phase 1 and 2 (and maybe 3 and 4) Projects in Athens, Georgia and keep all y’all updated. Eat your heart out Mayor Stan Anthony, Shelby City Council and you Cleveland County Commissioners.
