Charlotte TV Station WBTV-3 has been investigating the Cleveland County Department of Social Services for two weeks now. It seems that an 8 year-old-boy was removed from his mother’s home by CCDSS and placed in a state regulated group home. Supposedly for the boy’s safety. Only thing was, the boy quickly became the victim of numerous sexual abuse assaults in the group home and nobody did anything about it until the boy told his mother about the sexual assault during a visit and the mother called the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department. The CCSD took out criminal charges against the juvenile who had committed the sexual assault. WBTV-t has contacted the CCDSS Director Katie Swanson, the State and just about everybody else and all WBTV-3 gets is the run-around. Nobody knows nothing DSS says.

The rest of this article is about the lack of Cleveland County Governmental leadership and whose “heads ought to “roll” because Cleveland County is NOT protecting our children. And Cleveland County is the laughing stock in Raleigh and in the whole of Western North Carolina.
Cleveland County DSS Director Katie Swanson is one of the first “heads” that needs to roll. Not necessarily because Swanson was directly involved in the clearly obvious lack of competence by the CCDSS, but because the DSS under her so-called leadership and direction allowed this to happen in the first place. And MOSTLY because Swanson did NOT make the DSS Advisory Board and the Commissioners aware that this situation had happened and the Charlotte news media was investigating.
The Cleveland County DSS Advisory Board Chairman Mary Accor is the next head that needs to roll. Apparently, Mary Accor was directly involved in making DSS Employee Jane Shooter the Interim DSS Director after the “cloudy” exit of former DSS Director Karen Ellis Prichard. After the “shady” past of Interim Director Jane Shooter was disclosed by me several years ago and my recommendation to appoint Rev. Dante Murphy to the Cleveland County DSS Directorship because he knew where the problems at DSS were and how to fix those problems was discarded, Accor had to have been instrumental in bringing in Swanson as the DSS Director. Swanson, with no foreknowledge of how bad Cleveland County DSS actually was and likely instructed by Accor to “keep things quite” as well as overlook Swanson’s newly inherited incompetent and embedded kernels of corruption throughout the CCDSS that would maintain the status quo at the CCDSS.
Cleveland County Manager Brian Epley, upon the Cleveland County Commissioners taking over the oversight responsibility of the CCDSS, obviously has to go because of Epley’s total failure to provide that oversight of the CCDSS that the Commissioners delegated to Epley.
The Cleveland County Commissioners hold the ultimate responsibility for the proper oversight and operations of the Cleveland County government. And as the following WBTV-3 broadcasts clearly shows, the Commissioners have failed miserably in providing a competent oversight role in this matter. As well as in other matters such as the numerous lawsuits that the County had to pay off judgements and of presently active lawsuits that the County (tax payers) will most likely have to pay off the judgements or jury awards.
In the meantime, wide-spread bad news, such as the following links, shows. that Cleveland County is the laughing stock of Western North Carolina. A bumbling bunch of sexually deviant hicks that have inbred themselves stupid. That start their sexually deviant behavior at a young age and that Cleveland County Leaders just don’t care.
