Today was a busy day receiving reports from sources about various things. Which is not unusual. What WAS unusual was that during some of these conversations today included questions about current events locally and nationally that added together cause some alarm on very local happenings. Let’s think through some of this.
One of the questions put to me today was: How were the high dollar architects that were hired by the School Board to assess facilities at Cleveland County Elementary Schools qualified to study attendance patterns. My reply was that I didn’t think the hired architects were any more qualified to study attendance patterns at the Shelby elementary schools than the least qualified person working at the CCS Central Services. My source said that was his thoughts too.
Later, in discussing an incident of retaliation at CCS, my source happened to mention the school board’s architects recommending moving students around to fill up some elementary schools to full capacity and emptying other schools. My source wondered, what are they going to do with the empty elementary schools? Fill them up by flying-in the kids pouring in from the Southern border? Like they are already doing elsewhere.
This thought almost took my breath away. For a number of reasons.
The first reason is the Federal Government is doing something with these kids since they are NOT sending them back to where they came from. The Feds have already gotten caught flying planeloads of illegal aliens into other states. Why not North Carolina and Cleveland County???
The second reason is the Federal Government has already relocated families and kids from other parts of the Country to CLEVELAND COUNTY. I first became aware of that after Hurricane Katrina flooded New Orleans about 20 years ago. DSS moved those Katrina evacuees into Cleveland County then and it is very likely that many of them are still here. It is a fact that the City of Shelby is the number one slumlord in Cleveland County, financed mainly by HUD. With DSS providing the rest of the welfare support.
The third reason is what I heard at the Feb. 1, 2022 Commissioner’s meeting about the DSS being relocated to the Cleveland County Health Department Building. I am describing that in detail in another article that is coming out soon. But what I heard in that Commissioner’s Meeting presentation was that after the $3.5 million so-called renovation of the Health Department Building to allow DSS to “co-locate” there, there will be an extra capacity for 10% extra capacity of additional DSS personnel to accommodate growth of the DSS.
A 10% growth of the Cleveland County DSS??? The cat is out of the bag. So, why is DSS planning a 10% growth in the near future. To accommodate the influx on illegal immigrants heading out way??? Filling up our schools and emptying taxpayers’ checkbooks and wallets at the same time. Bureaucrats like County Manager Brian Epley would call that “High efficiency.”
