Editor’s Note I: I recommend everybody read the Kings Mountain Herald front page July 22, 2020 excellent article written by Loretta Couzart about the land wheeling and dealing involving former Commissioner Eddie Holbrook and others regarding land next to the Catawba Casio site. I will be filling in the details on that soon. This quick series of articles is about the facts and events leading up to the present status of the Catawba Casino for your information so you will be able to form your own opinions about the Catawba Casino separated from the lies and political talking points that are being spread around. Especially those that miss the truth by a mile.

Editor’s Note II: The following documented information about the Cherokee Casino is from April 2019. Before the Coronavirus hit North Carolina and the USA. The Catawba job claims also do not account for coronavirus closings. Also note that I am not for or against the Catawba Casino proposed for Kings Mountain. All I want is for the truth to be told.

When I googled “Harrah’s Casino Cherokee-How many employees” and hit enter, the answer came back quickly: 2,084. Only about half of the 4,000 to 5,000 full time employees that the Catawba Indians and the Cleveland County Commissioners, Eddie Holbrook and others claim for the Catawba Casino near Kings Mountain will have. Hint: Remember the $200+ Million the Gardner Webb University School of Business claimed the Earl Scruggs Center would bring in over 20 years? And the Earl Scruggs Center cannot pay their power bills without financial assistance from the taxpayers. YOU be the judge of who, if anybody, is lying about the Catawba Casino.

Also, more stats on the Cherokee Casino are shown below. Ask Commissioner and Catawba Casino Guru-Johnny Hutchins-how the Catawba Casio can match the Cherokee Casino? Yet generate twice as many jobs.

Harrah’s Cherokee has three hotel towers (Creek Tower, Soco Tower, and the Mountain Tower) with a total of 1,108 rooms, making Harrah’s Cherokee the largest hotel in North Carolina.
