“Robert. I have retired and willing to help CLEVELAND County anyway I can. I don’t consider my self a candidate for the position nor have I indicated interest. I’m sure the Party will select someone who has been active in the party longer than I have.”
I am not so sure about what the Cleveland County Republican Party Executive Committee will do as Mr. Holbrook, characteristically, did not specifically say that he would NOT change his mind and accept the Republican {arty Executive Committee’s appointment to fill the vacancy in the 2020 race for Cleveland County Commissioners. It may be more likely that Eddie is maneuvering into that appointment by saying what he said as an invitation for the Republican Executive Committee to “invite” him, or “draft” him into the position and that would be OK.
My recommendation to the Cleveland County Republican Party Executive Committee is exactly like part of what Eddie Holbrook said. To “select someone who has been active in the (Republic) Party longer than I have.” In this particular case, that would be former State Senator Dennis Davis or former Coroner Robbie Morgan. Both Dennis Davis and Robbie Morgan signed up for the County Commissioner seat and ran in the Republican Primary. And both have previously won elections in Cleveland County as Republican Candidates.
As far as Susan Allen goes, Susan chose to remove herself as a candidate for commissioner in the 2020 Elections. Most likely because she would have lost in the primary elections. No matter, Susan Allen chose to remove herself from the 2020 Elections and that choice should be honored and upheld.
Davis or Morgan are the only choices for the Republican Executive Committee to appoint. Anything else is just plain old Good-ole-boy corruption. And we’ve already had much too much of that over the years.
