Everybody knows that there are THREE Commissioner offices up for election this year. Everybody knows that THREE is a majority on the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners. Everybody knows that Commissioner Chairman Susan Allen was too “chicken” to run for re-election. Everybody knows that Commissioner’s Johnny Hutchins and Ronnie Whetstine ARE running for re-election. Everybody knows that I wrote an Article, titled “County Commissioners to Police Facebook, ALL Social Media!!! All County Employees, on the clock or off, Subject to being FIRED!!! AND Criminal Prosecution”!!! that was published the day before the Commissioner’s Meeting of February 4. 2020 that was critical of the so-called Commissioner’s new “Social Media Policy” that was up for approval at that February 4, 2020 Commissioner’s Meeting!!!
Everybody does NOT know this:
At that February 4, 2020 meeting, the commissioners took this action as recorded in the official minutes of that meeting:
Vice-Chairman Whetstine asked if Commissioners had questions on the Social Media Policy.
Commissioner Hutchins stated some CTIZENS had concerns about the policy and he would like further research.
ACTION: Commissioner Hutchins made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hardin, and unanimously adopted by the Board to, direct staff to perform further research on the Social Media Policy.
As former President Ronald Reagan once said, if you can’t make them see the light, MAKE THEM FEEL the HEAT!!!
Apparently, Commissioners Hutchins and Whetstine are now seeing the light, but only because they have felt the heat. But they only feel the heat because it is Election time. If they are reelected, it is almost certain that they will backslide to their old ways so fast it will make your head swim.
Therefore, we need a more permanent cure. A marked-up Sample Ballot is provided below. If we all vote this way, we will have the majority of our County Commissioners who already see the light. And act accordingly. ALL THE TIME!!!
