Editor’s Note: This website does not welcome phony, anonymous and factually incorrect comments submitted by folks trying to be funny, obnoxious or those using false identification or fake email addresses. Like the John Doe comments submitted below. This comment will not be posted to the article it was submitted under. That is our one rule. Our thinking is that if a person refuses to give their identity, they can just go somewhere else with their stuff. The exception being if the person is truly afraid of retaliation, they can make their good comments directly to me and I will ensure that their comment is appropriately and anonymously made so all can see. Regular readers have seen many examples of this.
The particular comment provided below deserves discussion. It is obviously from a person with inside information put out by the Shelby City government that has purposely been misconstrued or purposely been falsely disseminated to this John Doe person. However, the last sentence seems to indicate that if a proper deal is made, the City of Shelby would likely agree to participate in such a partnership as Mr. Willie Green has offered to them to build a Sports Complex on his property on Earl Road in Shelby. What a perfect way to settle a Federal Lawsuit. Right here on this website.
Let the Discussion Begin!!! Especially from SPD Chief Jeff Ledford, Mayor Stan Anthony, City of Shelby, Rick Howell and Willie A. Green. And others who care.

So now he wants to build it on his land? That’s a big change from his previous ask. Did Mr Greene not ask the city to build the fields at Holly Oak park and ask them to maintain them for his nonprofit?
His public/private plan lacked the private. Now it sounds like he wants to invest. I’m sure the city would be down with that.
