The Cleveland County Commissioners will meet tonight, June 18, 2019 to get a report on “Accelerate Cleveland” from Hugh Sandoe, a county Budget Analyst. I predict a costly failure, right from the start.
First of all, the Commissioners, Cleveland Community College and some un-named businesses have formed a partnership–actually a 501( c )(3) non-profit Corporation whose principle founding agent is Elliott Engstrom, a County Staff attorney. This corporation was founded less than six months ago and has no track record for anything. Always a bad sign.
Next, the purpose of this non-profit is to take the over 9,000 full-time workers in Cleveland County who are not making a “livable wage,” determine who is “motivated” get them to quit their jobs and take some kind of classes at Cleveland Community College so they can obtain the opportunity to interview with the business partners. All the while the County will PAY them a livable wage. Probably $15 per hour or more. Socialist Democrat Presidential Candidates Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, queer mayor Pete and people like AOC and the Muslim colluders in congress would love such a program as this.
The problem is in the numbers.
CCC is preparing for classes of 10-15 in a class with 2-3 classes per year. At most that is 45 people per year. With 9,000 people eligible divided by 45; it would take 200 years just to get through the list of eligible people today. All the while Cleveland County Schools are pumping out 1,100 graduating students per year, with 46% who can’t read and do math proficiently. That is 506 individuals not properly trained for the 21st century workforce. So, classes for 45 per year and 506 new untrained people per year equals a failed program right from the git-go.
All of this shows two things:
1. The math shows a failed program.
2. A socialist program, that historically has shown 100% failure rates.
Most telling of all is what the Accelerate Cleveland Program leaves out. A solution to the problem. The problem being Cleveland County Schools’ failure to provide the children of Cleveland County a proper education. The second problems with Accelerate Cleveland is CCS is also NOT a partner in this program.
All the while, that giant sucking sound is wasted tax dollars being sucked out of taxpayer’s pockets with absolutely no chance of success.
How much clearer do I have to be than that???
