Folks, most of you have heard about and maybe read about the little 4-year old girl that was bitten and dragged from the back seat of her parents car by a Shelby Police Department K-9 Officer in a police chase situation. We will not add to that part of the story.
What we are providing in this article is a an actual video of the incident showing the girl dragged out of the car. The video is not top quality but if you watch it a few times you can see the large black dog pull and drag the girl.
The next item is a picture of the girls wound. If you study that picture a bit, you will easily see that this is a serious injury that required major surgery to repair. Nothing like this was described in the Shelby star article, which basically downplayed the injury as relatively minor.
The last item is an update provided by Shelby Police Department Chief of Police Jeff Ledford of two incidents, the second one (in bold text) being the K-9 incident. Notice that, after watching the video and examining the picture of the wound, Chief Ledford’s reference to the girl receiving “treatment” at the hospital is a major downplay of the seriousness of the wound and the related surgery that was required to repair the injury.
We do not question the use of the K-9 Officer in this situation that caused a collateral injury to an innocent bystander. We DO question the downplay of the seriousness of the injury to an innocent 4-year old girl by both the Shelby Star and Chief Ledford in his report to the Mayor of Shelby and all those other people he sent his update to.
Chief Ledford’s update report seems to be downplayed to the point of deception. You have to wonder if there are other aspects of this incident that are being downplayed.
As for me, I have to wonder about other things too. Like the good faith written report I made to Chief Ledford about ten days ago regarding information provided to me by a source that a Shelby High School Football Player of Division 1 potential had allegedly assaulted a female and that two girlfriends of the victim had made this report to a Shelby High School Assistant Principal and nothing had been done about it. I provided the name of the Assistant Principal, Dr. Jim Prevost, to Chief Ledford and CCS as the person who the original report was made to as Prevost could identify the alleged football player perpetrator, the victim and the two girl that made the report. Or, Prevost could say nothing happened. Or be told to say that nothing happened. If that is the situation, I will ask my sources to come forward and catch the whole shebang in a lie.
All this has been about ten days ago (scroll on back for my article) and nothing has been done to investigate this report by the Shelby Police Department, Cleveland County Schools or others I made my report to. So, I will consider this a cover-up and go back to my sources for more information.
