With three candidates of African-American ancestry that are running for political office that will be voted upon by Cleveland County voters (Barach Obama for President, Mary Accor for County Commissioner, Pearl Floyd for NC 110 House) we are likely to hear the word “N-word” many times in private conversations and hear it blanked out in public TV discussions.
Such as Presidential candidate Barack Obama, in defense of his “N-word” speaking “black power” radical preacher (Rev. Wright), says race is an issue that needs discussion in the political campaigns of today. Perhaps that is so. But race is not the problem I have with banning the N-word. The problem I have is the other meaning for the word “N-word:” which is “a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised” that we all know so well. WE see him or her every day when we look in the mirror. This meaning that does not apply to the color of one’s skin or their continent of origin. This meaning that came to me (and others) loud and clear when I watched the Destination Cleveland County (DCC) folks and the Cleveland Commissioners take the Cleveland County Courthouse away from all us N-WORDS that paid for it and give it to the “rich white folks” that own Cleveland County.
Well, the word N-word may indeed be an offensive word in the English language that is spoken in Cleveland County. But the word “truth. Has also become offensive. Truth is SO offensive that you very seldom find it in the Shelby Star. Truth is so offensive that Judge Dina Foster once got a court order ruling that truth could not be used as a defense in the lawsuit that she brought against me and Citizens For Good Government in her (and others) effort to shut us up. As you can see it didn’t work.
And you never read a word about that in the Shelby Star either. But a special judge appointed by the Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court came to Cleveland County and put a stop to Judge Dina’s anti-truth campaign. But husband Skippy is still live and well at the Star.
So folks, I decided to return the “N-word” and “truth” to the discussions in Cleveland County politics. Everybody in Cleveland County knows what “being treated like a N-word” means. That term does not reflect “bad” on a person whose skin is black OR white. It reflects an accurate description of the good-ole-boy oppressive behavior over all us “N-words”-all in one word that we all understand.
If being a N-word and being told a steady stream of lies is offensive to you, do something about it. Read every word of this issue and don’t believe a word. That is don’t believe a word before you engage your brain and common sense and think about what is said. You will then know what to do on Election Day. Why be offended any longer than that???
