Folks, The Shelby Star (Online Issue of Feb, 9, 2025) reports that the Shelby Women for Progress are planning to hold a PEACEFULL PROTEST on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1 to 4 PM.
According to the Star Report, “People can meet at Lily Bean Coffee, at 108 E. Warren St., Shelby, and, according to a poster about the event, the plan is to walk the sidewalks around the Earl Scruggs Center.”

- Local residents in Shelby are organizing a peaceful protest against President Trump’s policies.
- The protest aims to address issues like immigration, climate change, healthcare, and trans (-gender) rights.
The remainder of the Star’s article went on and on about recent wild and crazy, outrageous, “Looney-Toon-ish” and nit-wit Washington, DC level Democrat Party’s radical talking points, false narratives and down-right lies-about how President Donald J. Trump’s totally successful first three weeks in Office had already undone the last four years of the Biden-Harris failed Presidency and radical agendas. And the National Democrats have called for protests all across the USA. And the Shelby Women for Progress have swallowed the bait, hook, line and sinker!
First, let’s take a good look at just who these Shelby Women for Progress really are. So, Robert A Googles “Shelby Women for Progress” and finds they only exist as a PRIVATE GROUP’S Facebook Account, THAT CLAIMS 697 MEMBERS. Up until this Shelby Star article Robert A had never heard of the Shelby Women for Progress.
This is what Facebook had listed under the heading of:
“About this Group on Facebook:”
- “A safe space for progressive women of Shelby to share ideas and organize!
- Living in Shelby presents a lot of interesting political challenges-not only as a woman but as a woman who isn’t conservative. I hope this group can be a place where we can support and motivate each other.
- Only members can see who’s in the group and what they post.
- Group created on September 18, 2020.
- Group history shows when this group was created, as well as changes to its name. You can use Group history to see whether a group’s purpose has changed over time.
Also, the Shelby Star article included a picture showing a young woman holding a “Flyer” announcing the Shelby Women for Progress planned Peaceful Protest, with details that Robert A could not determine from the grainy picture. The legend under the Star article picture identified the woman as Bree Comer.
A North Carolina Voter Search for “Bree Comer” living in Cleveland County turned up “NO RESULTS.” However, considering that “Bree” was likely a “nick-name” for Breanna and re-running the NC Voter Search for “Breanna Comer” turned up with a positive hit.
Breanna Nichole Comer was listed as:
White, Female, Unaffiliated
Registered to vote May 28, 2024
No prior record of voting anywhere in NC.
Additional similar public information inquiries listed Breanna Nichole Comer as being a 2021 graduate of Burns High School where she ran track and field.
However, Robert A’s expanded inquiry regarding Shelby Women for Progress on Facebook indicated and produced an “opinion” that these women are prone to use “false names” and other such tactics in their quest to remain safe, secure and secret because “Living in Shelby presents a lot of interesting political challenges-not only as a woman but as a woman who isn’t conservative. I hope this group can be a place where we can support and motivate each other.” As stated on their Facebook inquiry Robert A noted above.”
By this time Robert A has concluded that this Facebook “Group” has apparently forgotten that President Donald J. Trump won his second Term in Office by a historically huge margin Nationwide and by an even more huge margin right here in Shelby and in the whole of Cleveland County. So, are these Shelby Women for Progress just a bunch of gals turned Looney Tunes? Or What???
The answer to that question just doesn’t matter. These “secret-loving” gals have the Constitutional right to peacefully protest whatever they want. Right or Wrong.
However, folks, even though Robert A disagrees with everything these Shelby Women for Progress gals are “Peacefully protesting” about as noted in their Shelby Star article, there ARE BAD things going on in Cleveland County that DO need to be protested against. And by everybody and every voter come election time. And at every opportunity.
The number one issue in Cleveland County (NC) today, above every other thing, is the failure of Cleveland County Schools to provide a sound basic education for our children. Too many of our children are being graduated by CCS without being proficient in reading, math and science.
And, the Proof is told in the recently filed Federal Lawsuit against CCS Superintendent Stephen Fisher and all NINE School Board members. Not told directly, but told indirectly!!! CCS incompetence all around!!!
This Federal Lawsuit, filed Feb. 5th, 2025, was brought against CCS by a Shelby High School student who started a “Group” called the Activism Club to discuss LGBT+ related “stuff” during what is called the “Flex-Period”. This “Flex-Period” being a block of time at SHS where SHS students can get together in various groups to do various things (basically whatever they want) that is not a part of SHS’s educational curriculum and apparently without teachers present.
Note that there are TWO issues here:
- The lawsuit itself and how CCS has been trying to keep this lawsuit issue a secret from the public. This will be the subject of a completely different and separate article(s) by Robert A.Coming SOON!
- Why does SHS (and perhaps other CCS Schools), in the face of the well-known lack of student proficiencies in Reading, Math and Science, students are graduating without being able to read and write, do math, etc. on a proficient level, have any such things going on like “Flex Periods” in the first place. It is obvious that High Schools are the last barrier to ignorance that CCS is wasting during its school day. Obviously, Flex-Periodswould be better utilized, from an education standpoint, by teaching remedial materials that these students will never again have the opportunity to learn about.
So, all you Shelby Women for Progress (and everybody else), why have you NOT added the failures in Education at CCS, especially SHS, to your list of things to protest against at your Feb. 23, 2025 Peaceful Protest??? Why are YOU so interested in what goes on in Washington, DC and NOT in what goes on right under your nose in Shelby NC.
Perhaps Robert A and other Trump supporters, should come to your “Peaceful Protest” wearing his “Trump Hat” and carrying a “Trump for President” campaign sign? Protest the Protest, so to speak. Peacefully though. 100% Peaceful! But “Dressed for Arrest,” just in case.
Or, perhaps the Shelby Women for Progress might want to start attending CCS School Board Meetings and CC Commissioner’s Meetings too. WE can call the news media, TV Stations and all. Show them what a Peaceful Protest looks like. People coming together to peacefully protest against injustices, wherever we can find them. It’s a long time to the next elections. But only a short time until our big CC Property Tax bills hit the street. And, Robert A says “I told Ya so!!!”
