- Recent articles in the Shelby Star and just about every TV and Print news regarding the latest search for the truth in the Asha Degree Disappearance and the tsunami sized flood of mistaken, knowingly false and libelous Facebook posts regarding the same have caused great hurt, pain, suffering and confusion. Not only in and around Cleveland County, but state-wide and national news coverage too. Mr. Roy Lee Dedmon, wife Connie and three daughters have and are continuously being subjected to the most vile of unproven accusations, fully fabricated lies and severe disrespect in the community. Attorney David Teddy has been retained by Roy Lee Dedmon and family, even though no formal criminal charges have been filed.
- Another thin-on-facts and details Shelby Star Article, right on the heels of the Asha Degree series of half-truth articles, is in regards to the heinous drug related rape, robbery, kidnap and execution style murder of the lovely Krista Byers that sent four perps to prison. And has some NEW facts regarding how lapses in local law enforcement protocols put beautiful Krista Byers in harms-way to begin with. That has yet to be reported, Until Now!!

Now, folks, let’s start with some of the recent hokum in the most egregious Asha Degree Law Enforcement public relations stunt. The so-called “Death Bed Confession” allegedly made by Roy Lee Dedmon’s wife Connie’s brother-Nick Elliott.
“Nick” Elliott’s full-fledged Obituary is provided below:
Nicholas (Nick) Scott Elliott
February 12, 1947 – April 21, 2024
Nick Elliott, one of God’s called disciples, went home to rest on Sunday, April 21, 2024, just as he desired – on a Sunday morning. He was a pastor to the end. Nick was a father, husband, brother, friend, mentor to many, and shepherd to more. He was a regular guy called to special service for God. If you weren’t touched by Nick, you never met him.
Nick served God under the banner of the United Methodist Church from his teenage years in Shelby, NC until his retirement in 2010 as Executive Director of Southeast Jurisdiction United Methodist Volunteers in Mission in Atlanta (10 years). Nick’s call was unique as he went from bricklayer to pastor. He pastored Sandy Springs / Zion UMC, Piedmont; Harris UMC, Greenwood; Herbert UMC, Georgetown; Leesville UMC, Leesville; and St. John’s UMC, Lugoff; and he served as interim pastor at Advent UMC, Simpsonville.
Nick’s next unique call was to missional ministry. This call came on his first volunteer trip (as a brick mason) on a trash mountain in Haiti as he watched a naked child eat an orange peel and used gum from the mouth of an American. God asked him, “What are you going to do about it?” In Nick’s missional service he has touched lives in every jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church and in 110 countries, and he fell in love with God’s children in Cuba.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Adlai and Grace Smith Elliott of Shelby, NC. He is survived by his God-given helpmate of 42 years, Judy Tabor Elliott; his children, Jill Reames (Michael) and Nick Elliott, Jr. (Sabrina); his children of the heart, Kristal Hicks Speakman (Shawn) and Mikelle Hicks Porter (Christopher); seven grandchildren who were the greatest joy on this earth to him, Jackson, Andy, and Meredith Reames, Jacob and Joshua Honeycutt (Elliott), Devin Elliott, and Christopher Speakman; his beloved “Sissy”, Connie Dedmon (Roy Lee); and nieces, Lizzie Grace, Sarah, and AnnaLee.
A celebration of Nick’s life and ministry will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by a time of visitation.
For friends and family in Shelby, NC a Celebration of Nick’s Circle of Life will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Sulphur Springs Methodist Church. His path with the Cross.
“In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the SC United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) or Southeast Jurisdiction UMVIM, both through the Nick Elliott Memorial Fund.”

Folks, This recent FBI, SBI, CC Sheriff’s Department, The Shelby Star and the repugnant and libelous Facebook crowd that has accused Nick Elliott of a Death-Bed Confession regarding the disappearance of Asha Degree that has somehow implicated Roy Lee Dedmon, wife Connie Dedmon and their three daughters is unproven, uncalled-for, repugnant and mean spirited. The clear fact that Nick Elliott passed away April 21, 2024 and the renewed interest by Law enforcement in September, 2024, five months later, is proof aplenty that any such Nick Elliott’s death-bed confession is a hoax. 100% a hoax. And all the phony Sherlock Holmes style wannabee detectives in this Asha Degree disappearance matter should be ashamed of themselves.
Also, folks, let’s remember the laws of NC and the USA. Anybody charged with a crime is:
- Entitled to a lawyer
- INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY, Beyond any reasonable Doubt
- Can’t be tried twice for the same crime (Double Jeopardy)
Right NOW, Law enforcement at every level:
- Have NOTfiled any criminal charges of any kind against the Dedmon family or anybody else in regard to the disappearance of Asha Degree.
- Cannot provein any way, shape or form that Asha Degree has been killed, Murdered, or that she is even dead or injured in any way, Then or NOW!
- Cannot provein any way, shape or form that Roy Lee Dedmon, Connie Elliott Dedmon or any of their three daughters were anywhere near Asha Degree at any time on February 14, 2000 or later.
Right NOW, all law enforcement at every Level: FBI, SBI, CCSD, the Shelby Star, the libelous Facebook nit-wits and some low information members of the general public have only made false and unprovable, libelous and knowingly malicious statements against the Roy Lee Dedmon family members that are actionable in the Courts of law. And the Dedmons have hired just the Attorney, David Teddy, to seek the appropriate damages in Court from ALL these offensive offenders. Robert A recommends all the above to sit down and shut up. put that “Green Car” and any other Dedmon property right back where they found it. And publicly apologize profusely to the Roy Lee Dedmon family. And reimburse the Dedmons for all the harm and damages that they have willfully and maliciously caused.
Stay tuned Folks. The Rape, Kidnapping, execution style Murder, robbery and other crimes against the beautiful Krista Byers will soon be on its way. And folks, although these Court Trials were way back in the late 1990’s, Robert A was right there in personal attendance. How many other citizens in Cleveland County can make that correct statement? Plus, additional information that has NEVER before been released to the general public.
