We people of Cleveland County act like we are in a coma or either we’re too dumb to make reasonable decisions. I say that because we keep electing the wrong people to our board of commissioners and school board.
Look at what we’ve elected to the school board: Robert Queen (Authoritarian, my way or Hell to pay), Ron Humphries (a minion). Greg Taylor (Undecided on which side of the fence to be on), Rodney Fitch and Joel Shores (two total flops and failures). This crowd must go in 2024.
The commissioners are a group who are just incompetent and arrogant. Not a one of them has a has good business head. How in the world can a board of this kind do the business of a county when they don’t have a head for good business? They keep begging us for money for this, that and the other. If they would stop giving away our county properties for pennies, there would be a surplus of money in our county treasury.
Do you remember when the old Courthouse was handed over to Destination Cleveland County and that debt has never been collected? How many of us can make a major purchase and never pay the debt? Again, the Commissioners made the worst deal ever when they gave away our hospital and other facilities for a price that makes all of us scratch our heads. There are many questions hanging around about that deal and who really made some personal money from the deal.
(Do) you get the idea? We must stop electing people to run our government who are incapable, incompetent and dishonest people to be in government positions. If you can do good basic math, make sound decisions and budget your finances to run you own business, home and family; then you can be a good candidate for one of these boards. You don’t have to have a college degree to make a good board member. Just good common sense and a good basic education is all you need.
Folks, we can do so much better than this. There are hundreds of good people in Cleveland County who would make excellent candidates (for public office) and win in an election. Step up, step in and become active in your government. We will help you, promote you, and support you. Get prepared for 2024. Get involved.
