All Republican School Board Rogues vs Commissioner Rogues!!!

Editor’s Note: the present Cleveland County School Board and the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners, REPUBLICANS ALL, have been feuding for four years now. The latest feud is all about MONEY and who has power and control. All shown, by all accounts, at the August 12, 2024 CCS School Board Meeting as witnessed by an acute observer
Folks, it is as obvious as it can be that the Cleveland County Schools system is in a huge state of decline and turmoil. Failing CCS Schools are now the norm. Facility decline too, with leaking roofs that are NOT repaired because of incompetent CCS priority choices leading a long list of problems and issues. There are “hints of problems” with the brand new $30 Million$ auditoriums at Burns and Crest High Schools that have yet to be acknowledged. All in all, around 3,000 students’ parents have already left CCS and signed up their kids to Private, Church, Charter and Home Schools. Which has caused CCS to “lay-off” 50 or so teachers this very year. And perhaps other CCS employees. Which has led the Cherokee County (SC) School District to advertise heavily in CC for teachers wanting to get the heck out of CCS. Not to mention the many more thousands of concerned parents who want to get their children enrolled in Christian Schools, Charter Schools, Home Schools and Private Schools. Note that the old Central KM High School that CCS declared surplus was purchased by Gaston Christian School; which, by all accounts, is well along with renovations, looks brand new, and will soon be taking another 1,000 or more students away from CCS. Which will be clearly in the best interest of those students who apply early.
Now, for the “particulars” about the August 12, 2024 CCS School Board Meeting and other pertinent information available to determined observers.
During the CCS School Board’s Operations Committee Report, as presented by the defeated School Board Member Greg Taylor, CCS (on a split 6-3 vote-Danny Blanton, Ronnie Grigg and Aaron Bridges voted NO) had previously approved a motion to declare the old Marion and Graham Schools as SURPLUS. Then, according to North Carolina law in preparation for selling these surplus properties at auction, CCS had to first officially notify that the property was surplus and make the property available to the Cleveland County Commissioners prior to CCS proceeding with an auction to sell the property. And then wasting the money.
Instead of just saying YES and then just taking over full ownership and control of the Marion and Graham Schools and use the property that the taxpayers of CC y had already paid for during the school’s original construction for the best benefit of the Citizens of CC. Instead of showing that ounce of true leadership, the CC Commissioners, made up of 100% Rogue Republicans, reverted to their usual sneaky and deceptive ways and just ignored the notification and refused to reply to the CCS Notification. Thusly, holding up the sale of the property for cash that the CCS School Board would have likely ended up wasted anyway. An aspect that left the CCS School Board in control of the property and let the property run down to nothing if they wanted to. Which the CCS School Board would prefer rather than allowing the Commissioners to own the property and allow somebody like the Gaston Christian Schools or Pinnacle Classical Academy from picking up the property and then taking hundreds, maybe another 1,000 students away from the failing CCS and putting them into Christian Schools where they would receive a much better education.
In short, the CC Commissioners were too short-sighted and conflicted with their own brand of corruption, camouflaged as a phony brand of caution and “small thinking” to see and understand this big opportunity to provide a much better education for the Children of Cleveland County at little to no extra cost that the Commissioners have just let slide through their fingers. As for the CCS School Board, they still have leaky roofs and no plans to improve their facilities or educational lesson plans.
And, that is all that Cleveland County will ever have with the likes of the present CCS School Board and the CC Commissioners.
PS: Also, folks, remember that the 2024 Elections are NOT OVER YET!!! Not until the December 5, 2024 General Elections are complete and the ballots counted. IF YOU STAY HOME like you did in the 2024 Primary Elections, it is all over. Cleveland County is broke and you, your children and grandchildren will be left paying the bills of this major debt these present Commissioners; Kevin Gordon, Ronnie Whetstine Johnny Hutchins, Deb Hardin and Doug Bridges have left you with. What you will hear from Robert A after that is “I told you so!!!”
Citizens, if you want to bring your county government’s spending, waste, corruption and just plain old incompetence under control any time soon; YOU have only this one option.
