This past Wednesday Speaker of the House Tim Moore sat down for a personal interview with the Raleigh News and Observer<\/b> regarding his \u201cAlienation of Affection\u201d Lawsuit. In that interview Tim admitted sexual relations with Jamie Liles Lassiter over the course of three years with the caveat that \u201cShe said that she was separated from her husband.\u201d Tim Claimed that the relationship \u201cwas on and off again\u201d during this time. That the lawsuit was \u201cPolitical.\u201d That everything he did was \u201clegal\u201d according to General Assembly rules of ethics and he did \u201cnothing wrong.\u201d That there was no coercion or undue influences and he would win in court. Tim even said that he was trying to be the \u201cpeace maker\u201d with the woman\u2019s husband.<\/p>\n

But, what else could Tim Moore have said? He was NOT under oath. He is a powerful public servant and the allegations in the lawsuit are salacious. Robert A<\/b> wonders why Tim agreed to such an interview to begin with. Most attorneys would have told Tim to lay low and keep your mouth shut. It appeared obvious that Tim Moore figured, from a public relations standpoint, that the citizens of Cleveland County and the State of North Carolina wanted to hear a denial, whether true or not, directly from Tim Moore. Heck, somebody might have even taken a poll. That\u2019s how politics work nowadays.<\/p>\n

The fact remains that Tim Moore has a lawsuit against him and he will have to go through the legal process whether he wants to or not. (That is unless the Husband gets paid enough to drop the lawsuit. Barring that, this is what will be happening:<\/p>\n

Tim has 30 days to file an \u201cAnswer\u201d to the lawsuit with the Wake County Superior Court. If Tim requests an extension of time within that first 30 days, he will be automatically granted another 30 days as an extension. Of course, all kinds of Motions to Dismiss, Motions for Summary Judgement, Countersuits and such will likely be filed with the Court. Each of those actions, if denied by the Trial Court can be appealed all the way to the US Supreme Court before the case advances. So, folks, don\u2019t expect anything soon.<\/p>\n

Once all these proceedings are gone through, \u201cDiscovery\u201d kicks in. Discovery is when each side asks questions and requests document related to the case. Depositions are taken from witnesses. When all that is completed, a trial date is set.<\/p>\n

Some say that Tim Moore is too powerful and has more financial advantages than the Husband. That this case will never see the light of day. Robert A<\/b> disagrees.<\/p>\n

Right off the bat Tim Moore has some legal problems and Courthouse political problems too. Since the trial would be held in Wake County, Raleigh, Tim Moore has a disadvantage. There are a lot more Democrats in Raleigh and even picking a fair and impartial jury will be a problem for Tim Moore in Raleigh.<\/p>\n

Other problems will arise regarding whether the woman was actually separated from her husband. So far, from all appearances the woman was still residing with her husband during the admitted three years of \u201con again and off again\u201d sexual relationship. And Tim would likely have to have the woman admit that she told Tim Moore that she was separated while she was still living in the same house and that Tim Moore knew that they were still living together. If Tim has the woman put on the stand, there is no telling what she might say. Which is always a problem. As is whether or not Tim Moore picked up this woman at her home or did, she always meet him out somewhere on a rendezvous. It is obvious that Tim has some explaining to do in Court before a Jury in much more detail than this short News and Observer<\/b> interview.<\/p>\n

Also, regarding any advantages Tim Moore might have in financing a Court battle. Robert A<\/b> suspects the Democrats, In North Carolina and at the national level, will see to it that the Husband will have plenty of access to the best lawyers that money can buy to fight Tim Moore in Court.<\/p>\n

Also, there are additional and perhaps related items of public concern related to the allegations of \u201cGroup Sex\u201d as mentioned in Tim Moore\u2019s lawsuit. There have been rumors and gossip floating around Cleveland County for years amongst Republicans that there is allegedly a place simply called \u201cThe Ranch,\u201d allegedly in Georgia, where certain Republicans and their guests go to perform \u201csex-capades\u201d of all sorts and other salacious, scandalous and perhaps deviant sexual activity far away from prying eyes and ears. This secret place and the alleged sexual activity have already been alluded to on recent Facebook posts regarding this Tim Moore lawsuit. Plus, it is well known and sometimes documented that certain local elected officials, male and female, from right here in Cleveland County have been involved with \u201cwife-swapping\u201d and affairs of all sorts. Even involving lawsuits for \u201cAlienation of Affection.\u201d Such as crazy and far-out as this lawsuit against Tim Moore might seem, similar lawsuits are recorded down at the Cleveland County Courthouse.
