The Finance and Personnel Committee meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Joel Shores. Rob McDaniel provided a 2022-2023 budget update. Mr. McDaniel reported that we are over budget in transportation and will probably have a $1.5 million unfunded shortfall. This overage is primarily due to the raises that were given by the state with no increase in funding. These additional costs combined with a decrease in cash flow to the district continues to create budget challenges for the district.

The finance staff gave an ESSER update and shared the status of each PRC code. These funds are being used for learning loss, technology, and HVAC renovations at our traditional high schools. The remaining funds have expiration dates in 2023 and 2024.

Mr. Shores and Rodney Fitch expressed their desire to see additional SROs hired and want this request in the budget request to the county for next year.

Dr. Jennifer Wampler gave a brief staffing update. Dr. Wampler will begin meeting with principals at the end of February to discuss staffing allotments and cuts for the 2023-2024 school year. Some positions will end this year, due to the end of COVID funds, such as the School Health Techs. Other cuts will be made due to funding and enrollment and will occur through attrition.

Editor’s Note:

Folks, sometimes when Robert A forward’s information that appears incredible, he will say “Don’t Believe me, Read it for yourself.” This time Robert A does NOT have to say that. And this text is exactly what is in those minutes. If you have questions, don’t call Robert A, call CCS School Board Chairman Robert Queen or his twin brother, Kevin Gordon as the Commissioner’s Board Chairman. Not a peep about the School Board’s internal cat-fighting and Robert Queen illegally ejecting citizens for no legal or legitimate purpose. Upon legal advice, Robert A won’t report on the extremely bad and illegal things (and wasteful spending) that happened at that meeting until further notice. Robert A recommends all honest school board members to vote NO on approving those aforementioned School Board Meeting Minutes. All-the-while the School Board under Chairman Robert Queen refuses to even acknowledge or talk about all the Bullying going on at CCS schools. Wouldn’t it be a “hoot” if all the School Board got themselves hauled down to the Courthouse and Robert A is on the witness stand.
