Folks, if you look at the Agenda for the March 15, 2022, Commissioner\u2019s Meeting you will find twenty separate items under the so-called \u201cConsent Agenda.\u201d This Consent Agenda is supposed to be for very small and insignificant administrative items that can all be lumped together as one and approved with a single vote without discussion. Lately, the County Manager and Commissioners have been \u201csneaking in\u201d items into the Consent Agenda that they don\u2019t want the public to know about at the time, yet get approved anyway with little to no discussion. Things like \u201ccooked-books\u201d audit reports, RV Park Zoning text, Manufactured Home Zoning text, budget items, and such. There are plenty of such items on the \u201cConsent Agenda\u201d for the March 15, 2022, Commissioner\u2019s Meeting Agenda. And also, for many other Commissioner\u2019s Meetings.

\nHowever. the purpose of this article is to inform the public on what is NOT on this March 15, 2022, Commissioner\u2019s Meeting Agenda that SHOULD be on this Agenda. The bombshell report by the Charlotte TV Station WBTV-3 on March 8, 2022, on the PRIMETIME evening news with a potential viewing audience of over 1,000,000 people. The multiple segment Prime Time piece where the Cleveland County Department of Social Services was illegally seizing children from their parents without a court order using a phony and unlawful document apparently \u201ccooked-up\u201d by DSS themselves. According to the WBTV-3 news Cleveland County DSS has been forced by the State to \u201caudit\u201d their books for the past two years and 11 instances of that unlawful form being used to \u201ckidnap\u201d children from their parents were found. My sources tell me that over the past 20+ years, there may be more than 10 times as many illegal removals by DSS of children from their custodial parents.<\/p>\n

The WBTV-3 Broadcast also showed the Cleveland County DSS Director Katie Swanson slamming her office door in the face of the WBTV-3 reporter on camera. And that scene was also broadcasted into a potential crowd of over 1,000,000 viewers\u2019 TV sets. Just the kind of thing that I would expect from the DSS to do. But was certainly NOT something that spoke well for Cleveland County as a place businesses or families would want to move to. It also speaks VOLUMES about the total lack of oversight of the Cleveland County Department of Social Services by the CC DSS Board and now the Cleveland County Commissioners and County Manager.<\/p>\n

There is more.<\/p>\n

The WBTV-3 reporter also brought out the fact that the Cherokee County DSS had also used similar illegal forms to remove children from their parents and Juries in Cherokee County have already awarded $11 million to parents and their lawyers. And 24 cases are still pending in Cher3okee County. Besides the fact that the Cherokee County DSS Director had been criminally prosecuted and took a plea bargain to testify against the DSS lawyer to reduce her own prison time. And the Cherokee County DSS Lawyer is facing close to a dozen separate felony crime counts and is likely to spend many-many years in prison for his part in the highly now illegal removal of children from their parents.<\/p>\n

And there is even more.<\/p>\n

The Liability Insurance company that covers Cherokee County is refusing to pay the multi-million-dollar jury awards to the parents and their Lawyers. The insurance company says they are NOT going to pay for the knowingly illegal acts of the \u201cdirty\u201d Cherokee County DSS employees. And now the small Cherokee County is suing their insurance company to make THEM pay to cover for THEIR criminal acts. All the while almost a quarter of a billion dollars in jury awards are coming their way there in Cherokee County. Probably enough to bankrupt Cherokee County.<\/p>\n

This WBTV-3 report from last Tuesday evening has shown Cleveland County just how close they are to being in the same \u201csinking-boat\u201d as with Cherokee County. All because the Cleveland County DSS Board, the County Manager, and the County Commissioners (and the Shelby City Council too) have totally refused, after many-many requests, to do their legal duty to investigate and provide oversight of County agencies. To reward those that truly do a good job. To discipline those that do NOT do a good job and everything in between.<\/p>\n

Instead, Cleveland County Agencies (in large part) hire and promote their family and friends and then retaliate against anybody and everybody that complains about the real problems that unfortunately do exist in Cleveland County.<\/p>\n

But, hey folks, does any of this WBTV-3 stuff sound familiar??? It ought to because I\u2019ve been writing about it for years. And the WBTV-3 reports are just a reminder that others are now watching too. Don\u2019t you just know that the General Assembly in Raleigh is asking Speaker of the House Tim Moore, Representative Kelly Hastings, and State Senator Ted Alexander \u201cWhat the Hell is going on in Cleveland County???\u201d Businesses thinking about expansion are saying, \u201cHell NO! We are NOT moving to Cleveland County!!!\u201d Tourists are saying, \u201cLet\u2019s go traveling, but it sure as Hell won\u2019t be in or through Cleveland County, NC!!!\u201d And Cleveland County folks that travel outside Cleveland County will be told, \u201cwe don\u2019t want \u2018your kind\u2019 around here!! Go crawl back under that rock where you came from.\u201d Even the North Carolina Department of Transportation must be getting calls from citizens all across North Carolina; telling them to \u201cspeed up the Shelby Bypass so we can quickly get through Cleveland County altogether!\u201d \u201cOtherwise the Cleveland County Department of Social Services will steal our kids if we stop for gas, or to eat, and especially if we spend the night.\u201d What a \u201cHell-Hole\u201d Cleveland County will be known for!<\/p>\n

Folks, YOU will not hear one word about the exposure of the corrupt Cleveland County Department of Social Services at the County Commissioner\u2019s Meeting this coming Tuesday night. If anything, all you will hear from the Commissioners is what you always hear. Which is \u201cThank You for all that YOU do!!!\u201d What a bunch of FOOLS the County Manager, the Commissioners, and the DSS Board has made themselves into!!! We citizens too for electing them to start with.<\/p>\n

But, \u201cI told YOU so\u201d all along.<\/p>\n
