From the official notice shown below the CCC BoT and their Presidential Search Committee are having joint meetings on both Monday and Tuesday. The agenda that is shown seems to indicate that a closed meeting will be held at the Monday meeting but there is no agenda for the Tuesday meeting. You can only assume the closed meeting Monday will include the decision on who has been selected as the new CCC President and the Tuesday Meeting will be the deciding vote.

Since state law requires all BoT business, discussion and voting be done in open session, typically right after theClosed Session. Normally the BoT would come back into open session at the same meeting, have some discussion and then take their vote right then and there. This second meeting the very next day indicates something unusual is happening, something is amiss. In an abnormal situation such as this you have to smell a rat somewhere. Especially with all the past gridlock on the CCC BoT. An indiation that such major gridlock may not have abated.

My speculation is the Monday meeting closed session will be long and loud and maybe indecisive. After the Monday meeting adjournes and before the Tuesday meeting starts allows the Board of Trustee members time to make their illegal telephone calls back and forth to come up with a “fix” for the Tuesday meeting.

It is also quite possible that the Shannon Kennedy faction on the BoT has kept her chances at the CCC Presidency alive and well, despite what the Presidential Search Committee has previously recommended. Go back to the Cleveland County Schools last search for a Superintendent. They spent many thousands of dollars doing their so called outside search and at the last minute promoted an insider, Stephen Fisher, that they went to Church with in Kings Mountain.

Folks, we hope for the best but have to expect the worst. This situation at CCC ain’t over ’til it’s over. And the old saying “Monkey see–Monkey do” may very well apply here. And what can you expect from a Board of Trustees who refuse to include a Pledge Of Allegiance to the Flag at their meetings.

The Official CCC Meeting notice is shown below:

Joint Meeting

Cleveland Community College Board of Trustees

Presidential Search Committee

Special Called Meeting Notice

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, per N.C.
