At the end of this article you will see a copy of the deposited check made out to the Cleveland County Fair, Inc. for $250,000 of taxpayer dollars. The check was made out June 22, 2016. You will also see the Deed of Trust and Promissory note that was signed by the Fair, Inc. on September 19, 2016. That was Monday, a week before the Fair is scheduled to start (Sept 29-Oct 9).
Ask yourself, have you not heard that it is a bad practice to pay for something before the work is done? Is this stupid or what? You decide, I have already made up my mind. I just hope we get paid back. I have given up on the Commissioners having any fiduciary (financial) responsibility to the tax payers of Cleveland County.
I would also recommend everybody go to the Fair this year. You have already paid for it.
Several words of advice though. Take a raincoat in case it rains. And be sure to wash your hands (and your kids hands) thoroughly before you eat. Let your hands drip dry as you can get germs from just turning off the spigot. Also, they had two goat shows (over 400 goats) recently at the Fair and have not, to my knowledge, checked the place for Ecoli. Or followed the recommendations from the Health Department to minimize transmission of Ecoli contamination that caused over 100 infections and one death in 2012.
Have a great time at the Fair. See your tax dollars are at work.
Also, see the letter from the Fair, Inc to the shareholders at the end of this article. Taxpayers put up $250,000 to get nothing but the risk and the shareholders get free tickets for everyone for every day. Remember, this is an agricultural Fair and it is the taxpayers that always get their corn shucked. Ain’t Cleveland County GREAT!!!???
