By now, hopefully, every taxpayer in Cleveland County as well as members of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church have heard the message that a possible lawsuit is in the making to Order, under penalty of foreclosure on Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, for the $523,500 owed by Mt. Calvary on the sale of the old North Shelby School. It is abundantly clear that Mt. Calvary owes the money and, after 15 months, it is time to pay up. Or else.
At the April 26, 2021 School Board meeting School Board Chairman said, among other things, that Mt. Calvary would pay up the owed amount in May and close the deal that was made. However, Sources report that Rev. M. Lamont Littlejohn, Jr., Senior Pastor at Mt. Calvary, has made statements that Mt. Calvary will NOT pay-up on the debt that Mt. Calvary owes and would not even consider the purchase unless CCS brings the building back up to the condition it was when Mt. Calvary bought the old North Shelby School.
Legally, I believe Rev. Littlejohn is on very thin ice and a good Judge would lock him up for “Contempt of Court” so fast that Littlejohn’s head would spin. As the old saying goes.
However, the May 10, 2021 School Board meeting is supposed to have an agenda item on Mt. Calvary Baptist Church’s default on the purchase of the old North Shelby School. There is no telling what this new school board majority will do to collect the just debt from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Or, whether or not the truth will even be told.
The fact is this. The old school board majority accepted an offer from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church to purchase the “Old” North Shelby School for $550,000 and a reasonable standard of time, by any standard, has passed and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church has failed to live up to their agreement with CCS. It is immaterial whether or not there was a secret “side” deal for Rev. Littlejohn to help Shearra Miller, Richard Hooker and Roger Harris get re-elected in the 2020 elections. The fact is Mt. Calvary is on the hook for $523,500 and CAN be made to pay up. AND taxpayers need the money to help fix up CCS.
Since I have already notified Mt. Calvary Baptist Church that I intend to file a lawsuit against Mt. Calvary if they don’t pay up within 30 days of my letter, I don’t care who wins the “Liar’s Contest” between Robert Queen and Rev. Littlejohn. My interest is getting to the truth of the matter and collecting the $523,500 owed by Mt. Calvary Baptist Church to Cleveland County Schools. Taxpayers cannot continue allowing things like the $1.2 Million value of the “Old” North Shelby School be pissed-away to nothing. However, going after the public records is telling too. If they say “no records exist” somebody may be on the hook for the lies that might have been told.
Talking about getting to the truth of the matter, I issued two sets of Freedom of Information Act and NC Public Records Requests to The Cleveland Community College and Cleveland County Schools regarding the so-called “negotiations” of the sale of the “Old” North Shelby School. I am totally transparent and have included the text of those records requests below for your convenience. Note that I have notified both Cleveland Community College and Cleveland County Schools that the information requested may be used as evidence in Court cases and to preserve those documents accordingly. I suspect CCC and CCS may attempt to cover-up. But, in Court cases, the power of the subpoena is pretty powerful.
Stay Tuned!!! And be sure attend the May 10th 2021 School Board Meeting or watch the broadcast. There may be more “Bombshells” exploding at this meeting too. Perhaps Rev. Littlejohn can be “encouraged” to attend and tell his side of the story. As well as many in his congregation. I plan to get there early and get a front row seat.
