I have written many articles about the “screwing over” of former NFL player and two-time Superbowl Champ Willie Green by the City of Shelby. I have gotten much of my own material from having personally attended a number of Court sessions and reading court documents involving Mr. Green vs. the City of Shelby Officials. I have NEVER seen a Shelby Star reporter anywhere near any of those numerous occasions.
I have also read Shelby Star “stuff” where they have printed material including statements by City of Shelby Officials that don’t match up with the facts that I have determined to be true by seeing with my own eyes and hearing with my own ears.
So, when I saw that the Shelby Star had written an article titled Plans for Shelby halfway house stall after public hearing turns into debate, I chose NOT to bother with reading it, knowing it was a pack of “hoey.” Also, figuring that others, including Mr. Willie Green, would be reading that article and would likely respond in his own way. It didn’t take long until an email turned up in my Inbox regarding that Shelby Star article.
The email was from Mr. Green and To Shelby Star Editor Diane Turbyfill and Reporter Dustin George. I was copied on the email, as was Mike Philbeck and Andy Dedmon from Political Smackdown; City of Shelby Attorney Andre Leslie-Fite, Mayor Stan Anthony and all the Shelby City Council members; Jody Barr from Fox News 46 TV, Ken Lemon from WSOC-TV; Rev. Dante Murphy from the Southern Coalition for Equal Protection Under the Law, Professor Dr. Clyde Edgerton from Concerned Citizens 2020 and others.
The message Mr. Green sent to the Shelby Star Editor Diane Turbyfill and Reporter Dustin George and copied all of us on was simple and to the point. Mr. Green clearly pointed out specific passages from the Shelby Star’s article and challenged the Shelby Star to interview City of Shelby Officials and “ASK the RIGHT Questions.”
But, hey. Here is Mr. Green’s Message to the Shelby Star. Read it for yourself.
And, Shelby Star Editor Diane Turbyfill and Reporter Dustin George, I DARE YOU to do what Mr. Green has requested. Isn’t it about time for the Shelby Star to make an effort to find the truth in what you write about???
Mr. Green’s message to the Shelby Star is shown below in its entirety, Read for yourself. And if YOU foolishly subscribe to the Shelby Star, YOU are welcome to make your own demands for the truth from the Shelby Star. A newspaper that you subscribe to and PAY for.
(Note that I have underlined certain important statements.)

Why not interview Mayor Anthony and ask him why he did not emphasize and explain to the angry white mob who protested my zoning hearing that my hearing was also about “rezoning, not a specific use of the property.”?
Ask Mayor Anthony, why the change of procedure now? Why was I not allowed to address the council? The Mayor had the responsibility to correct the people about exactly what my application request was and not about the “specific use” of my property as he did at the hearing and he failed to do so, why? Because the fix was in and orchestrated by members of the city council.
We now know through court documents that City Council Members David Causby and Dicky Amaya were the ones who gave the protestor(s) their talking points of me building low-income townhouses, then lied about I asked the city for $100,000 for a low-income driveway, then the Mayor changed the rules to allow several protest petitions to be submitted the night of the hearing, rather than the required two-days under state law and we also know that the Mayor was retaliating against me and engaged in criminal activity because I would not hire his architect company to design my sports facility. Criminal & Civil Conspiracy is easily provable just by asking the right questions during your interview with Mayor Anthony and the other council members.
I look forward to your response to my question and your interview with Mayor Anthony.

Willie A. Green, Sr.
Folks, I will let you know when and if the Shelby Star responds to this very reasonable request.
Note, isn’t it just terrible that such questions even has to be asked of a 100+ year-old newspaper in the first place?
