Our last report did not include details of the alleged scandals, but dealt mostly with the fact that CIS Chairman and CCS Board Member Roger Harris was in on a cover-up. That is nothing new for Harris as he cut his teeth in the cover-up business at Crest High School where, as Principal, Harris covered-up a female teacher having sex with a student in the boys locker room allegedly caught in the act by Harris himself. Go back and read my previous article published April 13, 2018 for more of the background info of these continuous CIS scandals and Harris (and others) cover-ups. Go way back and you will find the dishonorable Roger Harris smack in the middle of the CCS Pcard scandal cover-up, covering up about the poor educational performance of CCS and who knows what else. I call Roger Harris dishonorable because if he had any honor, he would resign immediately from the School Board, CIS Board and the alleged money laundering CCS Educational Foundation.
But now some alleged details of the Communities-In-Schools scandal(s) are working their way to the surface. The details seem to revolve around Executive Director Sharon Robbs, sister-in-law to CCS Board Member Coleman Hunt. A scandal all by himself.
Sources have reported that Sharon Robbs was suspended and then fired as Executive Director of Communities-In-Schools. Allegedly over some instances of showing selected confidential personnel files to those who had no business seeing the files. Also for allegedly showing around her male phallus picture collection on her cell phone. No reports on who the phallus(s) belonged to was provided.
Of course such alleged acts are major signs of a lack of judgement, if true. Hiring such a person with such poor judgement also comes into play as does CCS paying so much taxpayer dollars to such a group who are continually involved with scandals. I suspect more information will be coming out soon.
And, then there is the question of what the heck does Communities-In-Schools actually do?
My understanding is CIS basically a mentoring and coaching program for students from the minority community who don’t have “father” figures or much discipline in their lives. The CIS website (www.cisofclevelandco.org adds much more flowery descriptions. Also, If you remember the old Youth Assistance Program (YAP) and criminal activity there, CIS took over most of those programs that had lofty ideals but just did not work.
And such programs never work long term because they only treat the symptoms of social problems and not the root cause. YAP, now CIS join together with the Math Academy, Head Start, Smart Start, More at Four, and Close the Gap programs as programs that always expand.
Always wanting more tax dollars for doing less and less.
Just think, if these programs worked as described the Gap would be closed and the social problems in our society would be improving. The fact is the gap is not closing and social issues are not improving as shown from the fact that social problems are growing, not declining. All this does is expose the underlying fact that all these highfalutin programs with the mumbo jumbo talking points espoused by such nabobs as Roger Harris, Stephen Fisher, Shearra Miller, Eddie Holbrook and others who make regular appearances at the LeGrand Center for their soirees.
Back to the present scandal at CIS. Roger Harris and the rest of the CIS and CCS Boards are covering this up with the help of the Shelby Star. If you happened to see today’s Shelby Star, all you saw from the Front page article about Cleveland County Schools was how well CCS is coping with managing a lower budget due to a declining number of students. Did you notice that not a word was said about why the number of students is declining???? Noooo!! That would not be nice of the Star to report that the declining number of students is due to the declining population that is due to skilled workers having to find jobs somewhere else. Nothing to do with declining birth rates. Not to mention that the Star is declining too and depends on CCS and others to keep up with their advertising. And advertisers like CCS and CCC don’t like to advertise in newspapers that report the truth about them.
So folks, there you have it in a nutshell. It all boils down to when you don’t get out to vote, you get what you deserve. Also, when the best candidates don’t run and people don’t get out to vote, you get folks like Eddie Holbrook and others over and over again.
Hey, Early Voting starts Thursday and the Primary Election is May 8. You can redeem yourself. Or NOT. It all depends on you.
