Former Shelby High School Principal and former History Teacher Jeff Jones resigned immediately at the March 9, 2020 School Board meeting. Jones said he wanted to apply for a History Teacher vacancy at Shelby High School, but could not as a School Board member. So, he resigned. Short and sweet.
There is speculation that Jeff Jones never liked being a CCS School Board Member in the first place. That is very likely as Jones was swept into one scandal or another at CCS.
But our theory is this; If you are not a part of the Solution, YOU are part of the problem. Since Jeff Jones went along with all the cover-ups and foolishness, such as the phony School Board’s $3 Million lawsuit against Sheriff Alan Norman and the settlement of the John Doe lawsuit that violated State Law by allowing a girl who wanted to be a boy to use the Boy’s Restroom at Kings Mountain High School.
Therefore, Jeff Jones was NOT a part of the Solution of the problems at CCS. So, Jones was part of the problem. In our opinion, Jeff Jones will be a much better History Teacher than a School Board member. Of course, Jones has to be hired by CCS for that History Teacher job. But that has to be a given as he did go along with all the cover-ups and bad decisions of the School Board.
State law says the remaining school board members will, amongst themselves, select a new school board member to fill the vacancy caused by Jeff Jones’ resignation for the remainder of Jeff Jones term in office. Which ends this year in December.
But who would want the hassle for such a short length of time? My guess is the Democrat Controlled School Board will select a Democrat candidate for the School Board who can get eight or nine months of exposure and name recognition to help them get elected. My guess is someone already signed up as a Democrat Candidate that attends the First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Or perhaps a RINO Republican like Greg Taylor.
That would be a safe bet. And, we will see soon enough. My prediction is the Five Republican Candidates that came out of the Republican Primary election for the School Board will win the 2020 Election for the School Board. Unless the local Republican Party screws up. Which they have already done. But that will be a story for another day.
