CC Commissioner Chairman Kevin Gordon tells Tall -Tales!! at CCGOP Monthly Meeting, November 30, 2023

Editor’s Note: The Cleveland County Justice Center Project is the largest, most complex and most expensive single project ever undertaken by the Cleveland County Commissioners. The Project was conceived in relative secrecy and the costs were way under-estimates at $90 Million$. Presently the cost estimates have doubled and may double again.

In regard to Robert A’s well-informed and well-founded comment at the CC GOP’s Monthly Meeting held on November 30, 2023; that the County was BROKE because of the Justice Center Project’s major cost over-runs (caused by the serious mis-management and deceptions by the Cleveland County Commissioners). A true statement that Robert A has alleged and proven many times over. Verbally and in print. Commissioner Chairman Kevin Gordon falsely replied “the County is NOT broke.” That the Budget proved it. “Look it up” retorts Kevin Gordon. without a peep of explanation or truth. Totally knowing that Robert A was 100% correct and that the Commissioners go to great lengths to hide the truth from Robert A and to the public at large. But sooner or later Robert A finds out. But, also totally knowing 100% that Nobody else in any leadership position at that CC GOP “Lovefest” of a meeting would ever look up such a thing for themselves.

Of course, Robert A had already looked into the County Budget. That was where Robert A found out about the secret Justice Center Project in the first place. And that was several years before. And then immediately warned the citizens of Cleveland County that a $90 million dollar project was being planned for Cleveland County. And that Robert A had questioned the Commissioners judgement about such a costly project for years now. A project that Robert A’s experience indicated would cost $90 Million several times over in the best of times.
Robert A also knew that the Justice Center Project was doomed to financial failure from the start. That such a reality would never ever be shown anywhere in a “Budget” all by itself-as budgets alone are not the proper venue for tracking construction progress, status and ongoing costs.

But folks, this article is NOT intended to explain to all you taxpayers that Kevin Gordon et. al. is wasting your hard-earned money on the ill-conceived and even more ill-managed Justice Center Project. Many of you have figured that out all by yourselves. The purpose of this article is to show that the facts of the matter are already out. And that Commissioner Chairman Kevin Gordon’s wrecking Cleveland County’s financial well-being has become known by others along the way

1.Look at what the Political Smackdown Commentator Mike Philbeck says, in in the September 17, 2023 broadcast, that if Cleveland County does NOT get more State Funding for the Justice Center Project, the project is in great peril. According to Philbeck’s own words in regard to the new “Courthouse” Project, that “you had better be praying” that the County gets the money in the new (2023-2024) State Budget and it had better be approved soon, or “there will be broad implications on that Courthouse’s FUTURE.” (Note that Political Smackdown also has reasonable and serious doubts regarding the solvency of the Cleveland County Commissioner’s present financial stability regarding the Justice Center Project.

Mike Philbeck’s exact comment:

Now, if you still don’t believe Robert A or Mike Philbeck, that there are serious money problems involving the Cleveland County Commissioners, Read on!!!
