Burns High School 2023 Graduation Ceremony Report!! Disrespectful, Condescending, Dangerous and Cheap!! Source report forwarded by Robert A

Editor’s Note: The Burns High School 2023 Graduation Ceremony was scheduled for Friday, June 2, 2023 at 8:00 PM until 9:45PM. The ceremony was held outside in the BHS Football Field. It began still in clear daylight and ended fully after dark. This culmination of several hundred student’s secondary education, usually a joyous and proud occasion for students, parents, grandparents. family and their friends that should be proudly remembered for a lifetime. However, this BHS Graduation Ceremony was terribly marred in so many unnecessary ways.

The call came in to Robert A that very next day from a trusted source whose family had attended that BHS 2023 Graduation Ceremony. This person was NOT happy about the many slights, oversights and “don’t give a damn” attitudes the Cleveland County Schools Staff and Administration have for Burns High School and their students. And have had for years. The caller was methodical and orderly in the complaint.

  • While one would expect that for such an occasion with so many people in attendance, the CCS Administration would have had the grass on the property fully cut, weed-eat-ed and such to try to show off the facility in it’s best light. But not for Burns High School. The grass was cut where the ceremony was to be held, however, the view was unsightly outside of this perimeter with some areas described to be knee high. The caller correctly believed this “slight full attitude” was directed at Burns High School and the Upper-Cleveland Area that many considered to be inhabited by rednecks and hicks that deserve no better treatment.
  • The parking was insufficient, inadequate and confused. There was no traffic control directing people into the parking areas during the day. There was no traffic control or other “presence” by the Sheriff’s Department (again) when the ceremonies were over and it was a mad and dangerous traffic rush in the parking lot as well as on Stagecoach Trail.
  • The lighting around and the ceremony area and parking was inadequate. This was of no matter during the daylight start of the graduation ceremony. However, at the ending of the ceremony it became a mad and dangerous rush to dodge the uncontrolled traffic within the BHS grounds and especially dangerous trying to exit the BHS property onto Stagecoach Trail. The caller also stated that he witnessed what was almost a major tragedy when a young girl child was almost struck and seriously injured or killed in the exiting traffic in such poor lighting conditions and no traffic control.
  • During the BHS 2023 Graduating Ceremony the Principal did NOT hand out the Diplomas, the Assistant Principal did. This new Principal is already under fire for her part in allowing and enabling the Senior Prank at BHS to turn into criminal acts of vandalism, so this Principal was perhaps laying-low in hopes that her poor judgement will be forgotten. However, the Assistant Principal, himself possibly new, mispronounced the names of a significant number of graduating seniors. Significant enough that the caller took note and concluded that this was another major slight to BHS and its students. It was also preventable. Any person in front of such a large portion of the BHS community should have had enough judgement (or old-fashioned gumption) to have gone over the list of graduating Seniors and learn the pronouncement of everybody’s name. What an insult, embarrassment and total disrespect it was to call a large number of graduating seniors up at the most important event of their young lives and badly mispronounce their names. Although the student might be too young and naïve not be insulted, embarrassed or disrespected by such a slight, you can damn well know that his or her proud parents, grandparents, family and friends were insulted, embarrassed and disrespected. The caller who was describing this to me was clearly insulted, embarrassed and disrespected for the student, parents, grandparents, family and friends although those people were unknown to the Caller. The Caller recognized that such insults, embarrassments and disrespects by the Assistant Principal was an insult, embarrassment and disrespect to CCS and Cleveland County Citizens too. And something should be done about it.
  • On a related matter, This particular Caller, who is observant and a great believer in good manners by everyone and good and honest behavior from all of our governmental officials, had watched the CCS School Board’s Special Called Meeting of May 30th, 2023. The Caller figured that Robert A had attended that meeting, gave Robert A time to get home and had Robert A’s phone ringing when he walked through the door. The Caller asked, “What kind of Country are we running now? A Banana Republic???” The Caller was PO’d! Robert A was PO’d and many others were PO’d at the CCS School Board Rogue members, the CCS lawyers, the wasteful and apparently incompetent CCS Administration and others. All of us are tired of such behavior as happened at the May 30th School board meeting and the June 2nd BHS graduation. And we intend to do something about it.

Stay tuned Cleveland County. Stay Tuned all us like minded voters. There is strength in numbers and we want honest vote counters on Election Day. Justice will be done in the 2024 Elections. And the Campaigning has already started.
