It’s No Wonder City of Shelby has Race Relations Problems!!! Besides the Silent Black Leadership, the Foolish City Council!!! The MIA Shelby Daily Liar, and recently, the Shelby Library!! And the Commissioners too!! Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words!! Report. Commentary and recommendations by Robert A

By now, everybody “Social Media connected” in Cleveland County knows about this past Friday’s big brawl “Rumble in the Jungle” amongst many young black men at the Shelby City Park during the Independence Day Celebration. Everybody has a bad taste in their mouths over that.

By now, everybody “connected” also knows about the Critical Race Theory-Black Lives Matter-White Supremacy racial divisiveness that saturates the Children’s Section of the Shelby Library. Probably there for years; right under the noses of the Shelby City Council and the County Commissioners. Not to mention the Cleveland County School Board. And, children are well known to grow up acting out on what they are taught at a young age. That is, unless they are killed by a drive by shooting while at home, asleep in their bed, by an errant bullet fired by gang members in a shootout.

By now, everybody knows about the LGBTQ-XYZ so-called “educational material” located front and center at the Shelby Library. And the Commissioners and Shelby City Council won’t or have been ill-advised by their lawyers that they can’t do anything about it. When something positive CAN be done about it, if they only had the political “guts” to do it.

These are just a few of the many pieces of the puzzle that have to be put together correctly to have peace, quiet and harmony for Cleveland County citizens everywhere in our county. Especially in Shelby where the crime rates are the highest and the pieces of the puzzle are the most jumbled. And the black population percentage is the highest.

So, let’s look at what we have in Shelby City Government regarding race relations.

A foolish Shelby City Council whose zoning rulings are arbitrary enough to “somehow” prevent black-owned businesses from existing, much less to prosper and grow.

A Shelby Daily Liar news rag that is no longer in Shelby. Notice the Daily Liar has neglected to publish the news about the “Rumble in the Jungle.” But were quick to publish an article titled: County officials have no plans to remove display at public library. With a Google lead in that starts out: “5 days ago — County officials have no plans to remove display at public library. Dustin George. The Shelby Star. A display of LGBTQ themed books has…” When you click on the link, you get a message from the Shelby Daily Liar that states you must pay them to be able to read the online version of the article. So, when did the so-called County Officials notify the “Liar” about their plans and not tell the people directly when they ask? Robert A Searched the Cleveland County Website, “Announcements and News Releases” and found the last entry was March 8, 2021and about COVID. So, the Cleveland County Commissioners feed information to the Shelby Daily Liar, so the Liar can make money off the news and announcements that the Commissioners refuse to give to the people themselves when they ask. Is that good public relations for County Officials, or what? Robert A says that if he runs for a seat on the Cleveland County Commissioners in 2024, and wins, he would be totally transparent. He would put a stop to this practice-of only funneling the news to the Shelby Daily Liar so they make money on public information. In return for what? Is another question.

AND, the silence from the Black Community leadership regarding the many issues that they should be involved with is deafening. “We are working behind the scenes” is about all you will ever hear from them.

Now, says Robert A, I have said all of this to bring your attention to the following Facebook entry put out by the Official Shelby Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page. It is an advertisement for a Juneteenth celebration at Holly Oak Park on June 11, 2022. Note that the so-called Juneteenth day is June 19th.

Juneteenth is the day, June 19, 1865, when General Order Number 3 written by Union Army General Gordon Granger in Galveston, Texas proclaiming freedom for the enslaved people of Texas. President Joe Biden signed Juneteenth into law in June of 2021.

But, when you examine the Shelby Parks and Rec Facebook flyer shown below, what do you see that advocates good race relations or bad race relations.

Robert A will list a few things that immediately caught his eye as being controversial and bad for race relations.

1.The Juneteenth celebration is to be held at the Holly Oak Park. Holly Oak Park is a historical “black” park in the City of Shelby that has a long history of being neglected and let to be rundown. A place for drunks and druggies to hang out at. Only recently been cleaned up, grass mowed and underbrush cleared-mostly. The facilities are limited, old and poor. And pales in comparison with the Shelby City Park across town with the top of the line swimming pool, the historic carousal, children’s’ train, Etc.
2.The statement “Our Past is now our Present” on the flyer is puzzling indeed. Robert A has no clue about what that is supposed to mean. Does it mean our past slavery is now going to be our present condition of servitude? There is NO “coming together” with that kind of thinking.
3.Most of all is the clinched black fist. A symbol of the radical Black Panthers who used to go around assassinating uniformed police officers. Now the Black Lives Matters folks have adopted this divisive symbol. BLM. another divisive group per most white community members. Most white community members would avoid such a gathering when the targeted attendees would be attracted by such symbols.

Now, fast forward to Shelby’s Independence Day Celebration just a couple of weeks later at the Shelby City Park. And the “Rumble in the Jungle.” An embarrassment to both Blacks and Whites. Did the White community expect the Black community to be satisfied with a picnic at the Holly Oak Park when they were expecting a well-funded extravaganza at the Shelby City Park? And resentful when a bunch of black hoods showed up spoiling for a fight. Even amongst themselves.

It is hard to figure out just what to do in such matters. However, it seems clear that a flyer like the one below is part of the problem. And certainly not a part of the solution.
