Folks, Around School Board election time, just about every school board candidate will put out political material that almost always contains pictures, cartoons, and symbols that are related to students, books, computers and schools. Often pictures with schools, flags, students, signs in the background or symbols or whatever. It’s the same with Commissioners and about every other elected office. Everybody does it and those that have been elected have done it too. No big deal. Right? WRONG!!!
In this 2022 Republican Primary E\election for the CCS School Board, the Rogue Republicans under the control of School Board Chairman Robert “Luke” Queen, with Kevin Whisnant as the “Front-Man, things have gotten dirty. Dirty, mean, unethical, and nasty at every level.
First, it was the bull shit defamatory letter written by Robert Queen to Danny Blanton, unethically released to Kevin Whisnant, Guy Smith, and the Shelby Star by the School Board lawyers that have caused a big fuss. A big fuss until I legally obtained the letter and published it for all to see. A letter that I also intend to write about in detail during this 2022 Republican Primary Election. I’m gonna rub it right in the face of Luke Queen, Dennis Bailey, Kevin Whisnant, Stephen Fisher, and the four school board candidates, Walter Spurling, Dale Reviere, Aaron Bridges, and Glenda Womack who still refuse to condemn such underhanded and nasty behavior from those that recruited them.
Now, the big thing for the Rogues and their four sycophant school board candidates is the illegal use of the CCS School Board lawyers to write threatening letters to the other three school board candidates. I have come into possession of one of those letters and that will be the subject of this article. A copy of that letter is attached BELOW:
Folks, This is the Cleveland County Schools logo that is the so-called copyrighted intellectual property that School Board Attorney Leigh Sink alleges Candidate Ronnie Grigg has used without the permission of the Cleveland County Schools “District.” And demands that Mr. Ronnie Grigg discontinue the use of this logo immediately.
Also note that this information “has come to the attention” of the CCS School district and Attorney Sink did NOT mention how, or by whom this information came to CCS. Which would have allowed Mr. Grigg to face his accusers. As the US Constitution requires. Also note that only the Chairman of the School Board, Robert “Luke” Queen as well as Superintendent Stephen Fisher have the authority to instruct the School Board’s attorneys to write such a threatening legal document as well to authorize the attorney fees to be paid to the attorneys for writing this letter. And, only then with the full School Board’s approval by a vote with the majority of the school board voting to authorize such a letter. However, the entire school board has never taken such a vote and only Superintendent Stephen Fisher has the approval power to spend CCS funds up to $75,000 without the Board’s approval. Just like he did when the previous school board Attorneys filed the frivolous $3 million dollar lawsuit against the Sheriff of Cleveland County that lasted all of two and a half hours before CCS had to withdraw that lawsuit, And, NO board members ever admitted knowing about it.
But, the biggest fool amongst the biggest fools in Cleveland County would have to conclude that CCS School Board Chairman Luke Queen and his contingency of Rogue Republicans (Dennis Bailey, Kevin Whisnant, Wes Westmoreland, Ron Humphries, David Allen, and probably some or all of their hand-picked school board candidates also had a hand in this political dirty trick.
And, why do I get the idea that this is a political dirty trick??? I say, Thanks for asking!!!
There are several reasons:
First, The so-called copyrighted protection of the CCS logo raises many more legal issues. It is my understanding that Mr. Ronnie Grigg asked the school board attorneys where was the PROOF that this logo was copyright protected in the first place. And WHO was the copyright registered to and actual owner.
The school board attorney answered saying that intellectual property such as the CCS LOGO is automatically copyrighted the moment it is created. Leaving out any mention of the Logo being registered anywhere and to anybody. A little legal research indicates that:
1.No such logo is registered by anybody anywhere.
2. Automatic copyrighting is within the law, but on such general terms that almost anybody anywhere could register this logo as their own and be given REAL copyright. Such that CCS would have to take legal action to use this logo ever again. And CCS might lose its case and NEVER be able to use that logo ever again. It could be totally possible for ME to file the registration for copyright on this logo and pay the registration and document fees, and be issued a valid copyright on this logo. But, why would I want to do that???
An even better example of a legal question regarding the copyrighting of this logo would be WHO actually owns the CCS logo copyright if there is indeed legal copyright. Since whoever developed this loge was a CCS employed and was on the payroll during the time this logo was developed, any such copyright would BELONG to CCS. The “District” according to the school board attorney’s letter.
Now, the bigger question is WHO owns Cleveland County Schools, the District??? Of course, the answer to that is the citizens and taxpayers of Cleveland County, North Carolina. Therefore, any Cleveland County Citizen and taxpayer would have an equal right to use the CCS logo as they saw fit.
But, WHO, outside of CCS, would want to use the CCS logo, to begin with??? Of course, the answer to that is easy. Anybody that was running for the School Board during an election. Like Mr. Ronnie Grigg. And like OTHERS running for the School Board have used the CCS logo on their campaign materials.
And folks, many, many other CCS School Board candidates have indeed used that logo on their campaign materials.
Now, we have come full circle about this CCS LOGO and the CCS lawyer’s letter (PAID for by Superintendent Stephen Fisher using taxpayer funds) DEMANDING that Mr. Ronnie Grigg cease and desist from using the CCS Logo.
The answer is totally CLEAR!!! This is ALL just a political DIRTY TRICK against Mr. Ronnie Grigg, Danny Blanton and Annette Fain perpetrated by Robert Queen, Stephen Fisher, the Rogue Republicans Ron Humphries, Kevin Whisnant, Wes Westmoreland, David Allen, and others. As well as the Rogue Republicans hand-picked and recruited Republican candidates: Walter Spurling, Glenda Womack, Aaron Bridges, and Dale Reviere.
Well, Williams, haven’t you left something out? you might ask. Ohhhh NOOoooo!!! I would say. I am just getting to that part. Proof that other school board candidates have used the CCS logo on THEIR campaign materials. I was just getting to that.
Since I heard through the grapevine that the Rogue Republican endorsed candidates were already warned to take the CCS logo off all their stuff, I decided not to waste my time there. I would go back to the 2020 elections and see what I could find. Also, since Robert Queen is also in on these DIRTY TRICKS, I figured he had scrubbed all his old campaign materials. So, I would move on down the line. I decided that I only needed ONE example of a School Board candidate using the CCS logo on his campaign stuff. So, I picked Ron Humphries, the School Board Parliamentarian, and the “suggester” to Robert Queen that the woman at the last school board meeting was out of order and to throw her out. Which Luke did indeed do.
So, I went on Google and punched up “Ron Humphries for Cleveland County School Board on Facebook” and guess what I found. “Private Ron” apparently had not gotten the Dirty Trick memo. Right there in his July 9, 2020, Facebook entry was the so-called copyrighted CCS LOGO. So, I screenshot it. This screenshot was the first thing I have ever screenshot from Facebook or anywhere else, so it took me a long time to get that done. Not done well, but done good enough.
So, Luke Queen, Ron Humphries, Stephen Fisher, all you Rogue Republicans, and their candidates and the School Board lawyers, NOW, what are you going to do???
As for me, I am going to put the CCS unregistered and owned by everybody logo on every article that I write about CCS from now to the time I decide not to do it anymore. Which might be for a long time.
Folks, if you want to see this for yourself-directly from Facebook, you had better hurry. I suspect as soon as this gets out, Private Ron will have done a whole lot of deleting. Although if he had any “couth” at all, he would just leave it as it is. Of course, if Private Ron had any “couth” he would resign immediately and apologize to all of Cleveland County for all the lies he told to get elected.
