New County Property Tax Increase Claims First Victim!!! Kerns Trucking leaves Cleveland County and NC!!! Cherokee County and South Carolina’s pro-business environment lured them away!!! Cherokee County gets $7.9 Million investment and 136 new jobs!!! Because of Cleveland County’s stupidity!!! Report and comments by Robert A. Williams
My comment to the Cleveland County Commissioners, the Cleveland County Economic Development Partnership AND the CC Republican Party is short and sweet (Well, short-but maybe not so sweet!) is this: I TOLD YOU SO!!!
I told you that the “new” property valuation increase was not due and that it would be bad for businesses and citizens of Cleveland County.
I told you that when the major increase in property values were combined with the tax rates, that major new Tax bills would result.
I told you that major increases in tax bills would bring negative changes in citizens and business financial decisions regarding Cleveland County.
I told you this over and over in the many articles I have written since I first heard the County Manager let it slip about two years ago about this new property tax valuation; that I clearly understood would result in tax bill increases. But YOU, Cleveland County, didn’t listen!!!
But the Kerns Trucking’s Management Team was apparently reading every word that I was publishing, was paying attention and making their financial plans accordingly.
Now, I will shut up and let Kerns Trucking and the Governor of South Carolina tell the rest of the story. Something that I predict will be happening over and over again in the very near future. All because the Cleveland County Commissioners and County Manager Brian Epley listened to Republican RINO leadership. The Wes Westmorelands, the Dennis Baileys, the Kevin Whisnants, the David Allens and a few other anti-Trump has-beens and losers who couldn’t stop their tax increase plans, even when the citizens voted overwhelmingly (twice) against sales tax referendums.
This link below takes you to the State of South Carolina official Press Release. 80 years of Kerns Trucking presence in Cleveland County is gone with the wind. It tells it all. Kerns Trucking is gone from Cleveland County and not looking back. Except that they will still be making money with their Cleveland County business customers, but their property tax payments will be going to Cherokee County South Carolina. Again, Cleveland County, I told you so! Get used to it!!! I am sure more is to come. Like the Walmart Distribution Center, just as soon as their years of tax incentives run out.
